- Polarity Matters: Pay close attention to the red (+) and black (-) clamps. For standard airplane engines, the starter must rotate counter-clockwise (when viewing the engine from the front). Reversing the clamps will spin the starter backward, which will not start the engine and could loosen your propeller nut.
- Grip Technique: Apply firm, straight pressure against the spinner before pressing the switch. This prevents the rubber cone from spinning against the spinner surface and burning the rubber.
